		<description>
	I MAKE, DESIGN, AND PERSUADE.

I’m a maker of solutions in the sphere of design and technology. I’ve been called a product strategist, an architectural designer, a program manager, a UX researcher, and an experiential creative producer (that one was a mouthful), but really I like to throw logic and design at the same set of problems and let clarity define the winner. And users. Users somehow always know best.
I love working on interdisciplinary teams of designers, policy makers, and engineers. Often I find myself being their translator, and I’m great at it. As a systems thinker, I apply design thinking and research into cohesive frameworks.

HERE ARE SOME PROJECTS:

I designed and oversaw construction for a makerspace where the room itself was made from the kit of parts housed inside the space.I’ve overseen creative work from some top-notch design agencies. For one project I built out an experiential sensor fusion lab with a pretty amazing hardware team in the Bay Area. We had more robots than people.I designed a packaging prototype whose off-kilter stackability actually functioned as a tool to show people how to use the product.I wrote a manifesto for a technology product. My audience was internal facing: a team of engineers and marketers who needed a call-to-action after a let down. It worked.I spent years advising every boss I ever had on productivity in the workplace before it became a core part of my job. I just really like well-oiled machines, in both literal and metaphorical forms.

I’VE CONSULTED FOR AND WORKED WITH:

PEOPLE HIRE ME TO UNTANGLE PROBLEMS and present them with creative, optimal solutions. When our time together is over they find I have:
Made them laugh at my really bad dad jokesContributed meaningful insightsDefined business opportunities Laid the foundation for the development of innovative products, services and organizationsSupported primary and secondary research effortsMade efficiencies manifest, painlessly

	Bragging Rights

I built the countertop in my last apartment.

I should have won that spelling bee.

I’ve been told I’m a friend you want around during an apocalypse.

I paint with machines.

I’ve been refusing plastic bags since long before the practice became fashionable.

The Post-it came about because of an accidentally developed low-tack adhesive. Accidents are common in prototyping, but a true Design Thinker has sharp analytical skills and an open mind, always waiting to recognize unexpected outcomes.
This particular Post-it is my favorite ever because I’ve declared it so, and I think the postmodernists would agree.

The idea of erasing just might be more powerful than the act itself. Every thinker has a preferred mode of expression, and I favor the pencil. Wild ideas are allowed because they can always be straightened, shaded, smoothed, and sharpened.
I probably found this here pencil in my parents’ house. I have a thing for writing utensils and I purchase them often, but there’s something romantic about a found object. I like to wonder what thoughts drove this pencil to streak a page with graphite. This one was likely used by my mom in writing a plan of action to rule the world.

My grandfather’s paint brush

The ferrule (metal part) on a paint brush holds the bristles together, but it expands if the bristles are moist for too long. Upon seeing this evidence of bad practice, one can tighten the offending component with pliers and be better about cleaning and drying in the future. But I personally like this Call To Action because the brush tightens up once I begin painting again.
My grandfather was a dentist who liked to paint in his free time. My mom is an artist who for a time was a graphic designer because it seemed more practical. I’m somewhere in between these two, and now this paint brush is mine. It’s great for glue, I don’t use this one for paint.
