II. Pencil



A pencil I found


The idea of erasing just might be more powerful than the act itself. Every thinker has a preferred mode of expression, and I favor the pencil. Wild ideas are allowed because they can always be straightened, shaded, smoothed, and sharpened.

I probably found this here pencil in my parents’ house. I have a thing for writing utensils and I purchase them often, but there’s something romantic about a found object. I like to wonder what thoughts drove this pencil to streak a page with graphite. This one was likely used by my mom in writing a plan of action to rule the world.
